The Phillip Island Jazz Festival 2012

16th, 17th & 18th Nov 2012

All Seasons Eco Resort, 2128 Phillip Island Tourist Rd, Cowes.

This will be the 8th time the event has been held. The theme for this year is "RED HOT JAZZ" and the feature bands are noted for playing this style of Jazz.

The Festival will commence at 6.30pm Friday 19th November with a Wine, Dine and Dance to Michael McQuaid and his Red Hot Rhythmakers (2 course meal provided, complimentary wine of arrival - $60.00 per head) Saturday will see non stop jazz commenting at 10am and concluding at 11pm that night. Sunday session will commence at 10am and conclude at 5.30pm.

Pyramid Rock Festival 29 Dec 2011 - 1 Jan 2012

For the sixth year in a row, Pyramid Rock Festival returns to Phillip Island to bring in the New Year from 29th December 2009 until 1st January 2010.

The Pyramid Rock Festival is set on private property and located between Cape Woolamai and Pyramid Rock a famous landmark on Phillip Island.

Phillip Island which is 20km long by about 10km wide is located 135km south-east of Melbourne or just over an hours drive from Melbourne and Phillip Island is famous for it "Penguin Parade" nightly at sunset.

Surfing is very popular on Phillip Island and there are numerous locations to surf. Phillip Islands beaches are amongst the best in Victoria.

The largest seal colony in Australia can be found at 'Phillip Island' and the 'Seal Rocks Sea Life Centre' and this is an excellent example of nature living along side tourists without being disturbed.

There is also a 'Koala Conservation Centre' which can be found on Phillip Island.

'Phillip Island' is also well known for its colony of seals and an abudance of wild life to tourists and loclas to see.

A visit to the 'Fairy Penguins on Penguin Parade at Phillip Island' is one of the most popular and loved tourist destinations in Victoria.

Fairy Penguins on the move
At dusk the 'Penguins' waddle up the beach after a hard days fishing and head off to their homes in the sand dunes.

The Phillip Island 'Fairy Penguins' can be observed from a special observation area provided for tourists but photographs are not allowed to be taken with a flash. This observation section is referred to as Penguin Parade To solve this however lights have been erected to enable photography with high-speed film.

While waiting for the Penguins who come ashore after nightfal there are many attractions to keep the tourist occupied. There is a ferry that connects from Cowes on Phillip Island to Stony Point on The Mornington Peninsula. There are great surfing spots for the surfer and the are beaches are amongst the best in Victoria.

Churchill Island was the first European settlement in Victoria and is one of the most popular tourist destinations on Phillip Island.

Churchill Island is located just off the coast of Phillip Island at Newhaven and connected to Phillip Island by a small bridge.

One of the main attractions on Churchill Island is a fully working historic dating back to 1872.

Churchill Island is 57 hectares and has Scottish Highland cattle and black faced sheep grazing in the paddocks is now open to the public to show how life was at the time of settlement.

There is a comprehensive tourist center where the tourist, backpacker or family on an outing can enjoy a bite to eat or drink in the cafe.
Churchill island was discovered by George Bass and Matthew Flinders in 1798 and in 1801, Lieutenant James Grant settled there and built a small cottage and planted corn and wheat with seeds supplied by his friend John Churchill, after whom the island was named.

Phillip Island is planning a great weekend where some of the best establishments show their stuff.

Local winemakers will be available to discuss their wines and there will be the local farmers market on Churchill Island.

A major event held on the fourth Saturday of each month on Churchill Island in Phillip Island, the Churchill Island Farmers' Market promotes the some of the very best in fresh regional produce.
With over 50 stalls on show on each days, this year's show promises to be something to cater for all the family.

The Phillip Island Swim Classic is a 1.2 kilometre current-assisted swim along the picturesque bay beach along the Cowes foreshore.

Run the day following the Cowes Classic Swim/Run event that is part of the Bass Coast open water biathlon series, to create a classic weekend.

This is one of the few beaches in Victoria that faces north and is not affected by strong off-ocean winds. All age categories are catered for in the swim.
